Today is my last day at Project ( or constructions & services unit ).. We have a few things to do today. First, i accompanied En. Ershadi went to P/E Pusat Komersial Kebun Teh to supply electricity. I help him pairs the J-Slotted fuse with the fuse holder. That's the only thing i know how to do O_o .

J- slotted fuse. 250A.

Other J-slotted fuse rating is
125A, 160A, 200A.

fuse holder

Link Unit - Link unit up to 400 amp.

there is copper bus bar that drug addict or bad people always steal. @_@

Connect the fuse with red, blue and yellow cable to check the cable from the shoplot feeder pillar.

Next, we have a site visit at Langkasuka, Larkin. Last time i went there, i forgot to take pictures. ( 21st April 2010, blog no. 9 ) .. We went there again to meet the contractor incharge of the substation. Remember i told you guys about the funny fonts and all. Now i took pictures of it. As you can see, its weird.

Last, we went to Taman Larkin Idaman to insert fuse to the switchgears. It is double chamber substation.

this is where we insert the fuse.

switchgear : Switchgear is used both to de-energize equipment to allow work to be done and to clear faults downstream

i wonder why they put the sand inside. Thats just for people's safety because of the drain's depth.

turn on the supply

Thats all :)

Today, everybody have works to be done. but not me :) i'm still learning a new things everyday. First, we go to Telekom substation because the workers want to fill up the drain (cable route) with sand in the transformer room and switch gear room. Before filled up the drain with sand, they have to empty the drain ( water drains ) , only then they can started filled up the drains with sand.

We have cable tracing again. but today i follow them tracing the cable on the road. We spent most of the time at the PMU majidee. We have to trace three cable between PPU to substations to identify the cable route for cable resite.

the multimeter is for phase sequence testing. We want to create parallel system so we have to check whether the phase sequences is correct.r-r , y-y , b-b if it is in phase, the reading will b closed to 0v. if the phase is different, it will gave reading up to 120v ( for example, it depends on switchgear types. usually, the tools for phase sequences testing is 'catu' ( the brands name ). multimeter is just an alternative way for phase sequence testing.

remote room. for ht switching, we have two ways to operate breaker. One way is using this remote, or manually. Every time we want to do a shutdown project, we have to inform person in charge at the RCC ( regional control centre ) about our switching. They will know our load and if it is overloading, they have the rights to stop us from doing any switching. The breaker operate using DC, 110v.

Thats all :)

Today after the morning prayer and some briefing from the leader, i went out with the TNB staff for breakfast. nice breakfast today :)

After that, we go to met Mr. David ( contractor for some project ) at Jln Temenggong ( a factory ) because En. Ershadi want to show him the cable route to the substation inside the factory so that TNB can supply electricity to the factory. Mr. David was the person incharge for the factory substation. Mr. David is a nice man!! :)

it's locked. the substation is inside.

nothing related to internship :)

the factory is beside sauce factory. hehe O_o

After that, we went to commercial center Larkin, because En. Ershadi got one call said that one feeder pillar is broken and something is missing. O_o so we rush there to see what exactly the things that missing and save the copper bus bar from being stolen AGAIN. After we went for a site visit at Telekom's substation to see the progress on that substation as they have a shut down project tonight.

CT or current transformer. this is for current measuring. to measure current more than 100A, we have to use CT meter.

crimping the bimetal. Hydraulic pump is used to crimp 500mmp bimetal.

Lastly, we went to PPU Tampoi for cable tracing. It was so hot during the day. We all sweat like bathing! Cable tracing is to find the existing cable between the ppu and the substation.

En. Zul is racking out the breaker. For every switching, we have to rack out the breaker to make sure there is no current supply. Also for our safety when we want to connect resistance, cable identifier, and tracing set. In one condition, we have to test with life phasing stick ( test pen for high voltage )

En. Rashidi do the switching process with PPD ( personal protection device) complete with the orange outfit, hand glove, fire resistant pants, safety boots, helmet and visor.

the reading for life phasing stick. when there is no reading, so it show that there is no voltages.

i'm done for today!

Today is my second week at Construction & Services unit.. today I accompanied En. Ershadi to police station Sentral at city of Johor Bahru regarding some mistake in the police report for one cases where the tools inside the substation have been stole. So he have to go to police station to correct the mistake so that insurance company can cover the losses.

After that, we went to the office at wisma TNB because En. Ershadi have some paper work to be done. Some more, office's aircond is under maintance so it was so hot inside the building! everybody is going out. I was given a notes on heat shrinkable for 4 core XLPE insulated cables with wire armour up to 1.1kv, so i read it while En. Ershadi finished his paper work.

So, once En. Ershadi finished his paper work ( i don't think he managed to finish it because of the heat ) we went to Sek. Sultan Ismail substation to supply electricity. There was so many people, some from Jabatan Pelajaran and some was the consultant for the substation's project. They were worried because the building ( school's building) is still no electricity and tomorrow is their big day ( some event for their 100 years, and deputy prime minister is coming). but when we arrived at the SSI substation, the LV cable is still not connected to transformer yet. So, after they done the connection and taping for transformer ( 22kv 1000KVA) then the AP ( authorize person) on the switch for supply electricity. We finished around 7.oopm.

thats all for today! :)

Today there was Majlis Perhimpunan Perdana at Kempas's Hall. I arrived around 7.20am. It is quite early. So, i went to the canteen and have a breakfast. They provided the breakfast to all staff. The ceremony start around 9.00am..

Around 10.30, i have to follow En. Ershadi to a shut down project at Nusa Bestari, which is near my house :) Before that, we went to PPU Tampoi No.3 ( PPU-Pencawang Pembahagian Utama ) to give En. Rashidi the key. After that, we went to Kg. Setanggi because En. Ershadi want to supply electricity to Taman Seri Setanggi 1. If u read the newspaper, Taman Seri Setanggi got big issues which the buyer still didn't get the CF. After En. Ershadi finished his job at Setanggi, we went to Sekolah Sultan Ismail substation because he have a shut down project tonight. So, he want to look at the substation first. After, we went to Tiong Hua Funeral Parlour & Crematorium. It was my first time visited there :) En. Ershadi have to tell them not to close the gate because the substation is inside that place.

taman seri setanggi substation

Lastly, we went straight to Nusa Bestari, where the shut down project carried out. The contractor is taking care of the cable joining, while they do their work, we went to Mc'donalds to have lunch. When we arrived there , they already finished joined the cable. the shut down project this time is to supply current to the shop lot at Nusa Bestari. The cable from the shoplot is joined with the one at the nearest substation, at Giant, Nusa bestari.

joining the cable

the contractor heat up the cable so that it shrink and wrapped the cable perfectly.they use gas like the one we have at home :)

there is En. Ershadi. checking the switch gear.

it is finished!buried back the cable.

high voltage insulation tester
to test the cable continuity and insulation cable. we have to inject 5kv to the cable and if the reading is over 200M Hz then it is in good condition.

after that, it was raining heavily again. that was nice after sun burning our skin :)
